Phone Review: The Infinix Hot 2 Review

all_phones_3
The Infinix Hot 2 X510 is a sequel to last year’s Infinix’s entry-level smartphone, the Infinix Hot X507.
The Infinix Hot 2 is the first mobile phone in Africa fitted with Google’s new Android One OS framework, which enables it to upgrade to the latest Android OS version as soon as it becomes available.

Body & Display

The Infinix Hot 2 has the same 5-inch display as the Infinix Hot. It is thinner than its predecessor though, with a width of 7.8mm.

The Home, Back and Menu buttons, which were previously on the panel surrounding the screen, have now been moved to the screen itself.
The Infinix Hot 2’s 720 x 1280 pixel display gives a sharper, more colorful display, which is instantly evident the moment the phone comes on.

The Infinix Hot 2 comes in five different colours: white, black, red, blue and gold, giving potential users an array of choices to fit their style.

Camera

Coupled with the better display, the Infinix Hot 2 comes with an upgraded 8-megapixel camera that ensures your photos come out better than before. Its 2-megapixel front camera won’t exactly give you the best selfies, but it does the job.

Hardware

The Infinix Hot 2 has a similar 1.3 GHz quad-core processor to the Infinix Hot, but the upgraded OS ensures faster and much smoother navigation. For those interested in even more productivity, the Infinix Hot 2 comes in 1GB RAM and 2GB RAM versions.
The Infinix Hot 2 packs a not-so-strong 2200 mAh Li-ion Battery, but with Android Lollipop’s battery saver feature, should be enough to keep you on when you need it. The case is removable, so multiple batteries are also an option.

It comes with the Infinix fast chargers, and shows you how much charging time is left (a pretty nifty feature). The regular high-quality Infinix earphones are also included in the set.

It is a dual-sim phone, and has a slot for an external memory card, although it doesn’t come with one.

Pricing

The 1GB RAM version can be bought for N17,500, while the 2GB RAM version is sold for N19,500. Given what the phone can do, the prices is more than a bargain.

What We Think

For anyone with a low budget and looking to get a smartphone, the Infinix Hot 2 is arguably the best choice. For optimum use, the 2GB version would be a safer bet.
