Homemade Sauces With Booze
Is dad getting a new grill for Father's Day? Give him some amazing
sauces to go on those beef ribs by whipping up one of these boozy, tangy
barbecue sauces and marinades!
Not only are these sauces perfect for your family's favorite ribs,
burgers and chicken, they are perfect for dipping, marinating and pastas
too! Plus, the booze in each one adds a nice depth of flavor you just
can't get with anything else.
Yields about 1 cup sauce

Caribbean jerk & spiced rum BBQ
Yields about 1 cup sauce
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 2-1/2 teaspoons Caribbean jerk seasoning
- 1-1/2 tablespoons spiced rum
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, add all of the ingredients and simmer over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes or until thick. Add salt and pepper to taste. For added spice, add another 1/2 -1 teaspoon of jerk seasoning.

Bourbon & cider BBQ sauce
Yields about 2 cups
Ingredients:
- 1/4 red onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup + 2 tablespoons bourbon (we used Jim Beam)
- Dash of black pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- Salt to taste
Directions:
- Place onion, garlic and bourbon in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Then reduce to a simmer and cook until onions are translucent and most of the liquid has cooked out. Stir in the remaining ingredients and simmer for about 15-25 minutes or until thick. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- For a smooth sauce, blend in a blender or run through a wire mesh strainer.

Sriracha and stout BBQ sauce
Yields about 1-1/2 cups
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1-1/2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce (or your favorite hot sauce)
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 cup stout beer
- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper
Directions:
- In a small or medium-size pot over medium heat, add the oil and warm. Add the garlic and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until thick and fragrant. Add salt and pepper to taste.
