Fans of The Vampire Diaries were heartbroken when Nina Dobrev left the show after six seasons.
According to the Elena actress, though, that was all part of the plan.
Nina opens up on being picky about her roles and leaving the iconic show in 2015.

She admits that despite all the shock and controversy, she never intended to stay on the show past her initial six-season contract.
“That was the plan from the get-go,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar.
Nina was afraid she had just shot her career in the foot… but that only motivated her more.
“If anything, the fact that [leaving] terrified me drove me even more. I needed to feel that fear of ‘Oh, my God, what if I never get a job again?’ That just made me want to work five times as hard to make sure that didn’t happen.”
